Matthew 26:36-39 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Where do you go when you become overwhelmed?
We had a crazy week last week that landed us on an antique buying trip near the St. Paul Cathedral. As we walked by, we decided to go in because neither of us had been this close to the cathedral. As we walked through the massive doors a sense of peace came over me. God was in that place. Even though outside St. Paul experienced 3 homicides in 9 hours and it was the week of 9/11, inside the St. Paul Cathedral, there was peace.
Instead of being overwhelmed by life, be overwhelmed by God’s love.
