Palm Trees, Palm Branches, Palm Sunday

John 12:12-13 The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the King of Israel!”

As Jesus approaches Jerusalem, he is met by a large group of people who were in town to celebrate the Passover. Jesus’ triumphal entry is a grand entrance fit for a king. Palm branches waved as voices showered blessings on Jesus, the one who has come to save them from their current government. Little did they know how the world would change in just one short week. Jesus wasn’t saving the people from their government, he was saving them, and us, from this world. Celebrate Palm Sunday knowing the price Jesus paid to save you.
