Haircut

1 Peter 4:10-11 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

This week I received a call from a woman requesting a haircut for her husband who resides in a local care facility. When I arrived, I learned that he was bedridden and on hospice. The CNA and I worked together to keep him comfortable while trimming his hair and beard. She gently held his head in her hands while I cut the wispy long hairs around his ears. It was an honor and holy experience to play a small role in preparing my friend to see Jesus. Cutting hair is a small way to serve, but what a privilege to make a difference in the life of this man and his family as they said their last goodbyes. Today he is running around heaven with a fresh haircut!
