Bird Feathers

Luke 12:22-24 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!”

For years, God has dressed the backyard birds with beautiful feathers. The colors of the Orioles, Cardinals, Blue Jays and Robins are stunning making them recognizable by even an amateur birder, like me. God provides their shelter in the trees and berries on the bushes. We are invited to be the hands and feet of Jesus by caring for God’s creatures. By feeding the birds and building birdhouses. By you donate clothes to the local clothes closet. By brining a plate of cookies to a busy family, or prepare a meal for someone recovering from surgery. You are sharing God’s love in the most practical way. So, this week when you are filling your bird feeders, remember to feeds the ones more valuable than birds!
